Laylat al-Raghaib (First Thursday of Rajab)
Laylat al-Raghaib is observed on the night connecting the first Thursday of Rajab to Friday — especially in Turkey, the Balkans, and parts of the Muslim world. Note that it is not tied to a fixed Hijri day number; it follows the first Thursday after Rajab begins.
Scholarly note & balanced observance
Classical scholars including Imam al-Nawawi and Ibn Rajab clarified that there is no authentic (sahih) prophetic narration establishing a specific ritual prayer called 'Salat al-Raghaib'. Mosques that commemorate this evening focus on general, well-established acts of devotion: duʿa, seeking forgiveness (istighfar), Qur’an recitation, charity, and preparing the heart for Ramadan.
