Search “when is Ramadan 2027” and you will see charity pages quoting 7–8 February for the start and early March for Eid. Those are useful estimates. They are not a fatwa. The Islamic day starts at sunset. Your mosque or national moonsighting body still owns the announcement.

Namaz Buddy is not a crescent committee. We publish city prayer times so suhoor ends at Fajr and iftar is Maghrib for your coordinates — London is not Jakarta. For a full month calendar and Laylat al-Qadr window, use the Ramadan 2027 guide; this article focuses on moonsighting, one-day shifts, and your city clock. Pick a city on prayer times.

Expected Ramadan 2027 window

Ramadan 2027 is the ninth month of 1448 AH. On civil lunar calendars (for example Umm al-Qura), the first fast often falls on Monday 8 February 2027. Communities that wait for a local crescent may begin on Tuesday 9 February. The night before — after Maghrib on 7 or 8 February — is when many mosques start Taraweeh.

Eid al-Fitr follows the Shawwal crescent: roughly 9 or 10 March 2027, depending on whether Ramadan has 29 or 30 days and which method your city used at the start.

Milestone	Estimate (confirm locally)
Crescent search	Evening of 7 February 2027
First fasting day	8 or 9 February 2027
Laylat al-Qadr (popular 27th night)	Often early March — seek the odd nights of the last ten
Eid al-Fitr	9 or 10 March 2027

UK, US, and why the clock matters

In the United Kingdom many mosques follow a Saudi-linked calendar or a local sighting network; others print the London Unified Prayer Timetable for the five prayers. In North America, ISNA angles are common on apps and boards — still verify Taraweeh and Eid with your masjid.

Fasting length is city-specific. Midwinter Ramadan in London means a short day; the same date in Texas or Toronto is a different Maghrib. Do not reuse a screenshot from another country. Use London, New York, or your own city page.

Moonsighting vs calculation

Some scholars and states announce Ramadan from astronomical calculation in advance. Others insist on naked-eye sighting after Maghrib. Both exist in the global ummah. This article does not pick a side. If your local announcement differs from a website table by one day, follow the mosque you pray in.

Suhoor, iftar, and the Namaz Buddy tools

Suhoor food stops at the start of Fajr. Iftar is at Maghrib. That is why a prayer-times page is a fasting tool, not only a salah list. Track the month in the free app with reminders — the quiz and Hal loop stay between prayers. Full guide: namazbuddy.com/ramadan-2027.
